Rebecca Harrell Tickell has dedicated her career to the advancement of women in green businesses. She chairs The Veggie Van Organization, a national nonprofit dedicated to education around sustainable energy. Through her work in the nonprofit sector, she has spoken to and trained over 10,000 teens and teachers throughout Southern California and worked with organizations such as Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots program, the United Nations and the Virgin Group.

RACHELLE CARSON BEGLEY

Rachelle has worked in theater, films and TV for 27 years, and she is hoping for another fifty Rachelle wanted to be an actress since she was four years old and started pursuing it in high school. She then moved to NYC to study when she was 18 years old and got her first professional job on the soap “Another World” when she was 20 years old. Rachelle has not stopped working since although there have been many dry periods for work in which she opened a Pilates Studio in Los Angeles. Another passion of Rachelle’s is recently completing working on a musical with her husband, Ed Begley Jr., who wrote and directed it about the life of Cesar Chavez. Chavez was the farmer who helped create the Farm Workers Union. It was a great experience and a wonderful project.

Rachelle and Ed also wrapped their third season of their own show “Living With Ed” on Discovery’s Planet Green. It’s about their wonderfully wacky lifestyle that hopefully one day will be more main stream. But, today, it’s still a novelty. They live in a solar powered house, and drive a Prius or Ed’s all electric car around LA. They recycle everything! It’s been an adjustment to live like he does, but she managed to adjust. She has said she feels a little like Eva Gabor in “Green Acres”

“Countdown to Coherence”

I was inspired to become a journalist in 1993, after suffering a lifetime of illnesses, which I healed by alternative means. Within nine months I had become the UK’s first Alternative Health Agony Aunt with my column ‘What’s The Alternative?’ in the Daily Mail.

In my youth I suffered numerous chronic illnesses ranging from ear infections to acne, glandular fever to chronic fatigue, plus thrush and several broken bones. In my twenties, as an air stewardess I collected illnesses instead of souvenirs. Colitis and dysentery were interspersed with liberal amounts of surgery.

After my second marriage in 1980, when my husband enquired as to ‘What was my disease of the day?’ His chance remark was to change my life.  I began researching nutritional medicine and alternative therapies. As my knowledge grew, friends began turning to me for advice, and my reputation for being a health expert‚ was born.  Somehow I always seemed to be able to point people in the right direction.

During my late thirties I also began researching the science behind more esoteric subjects such as psychic phenomena, the power of the mind, telepathy and energy healing.

In February 1993 my weekly column ‘What’s The Alternative?’ appeared in the Daily Mail. In 1995 I wrote my first book of the same title.

In January 1997 I was invited to join The Sunday Times, with my weekly column, and in June of that year was voted Health Journalist of the Year. After answering almost 50,000 readers’ letters during my five years as a weekly columnist I went on to write three further health and cookery books.

In 1998 I underwent a near death experience, which caused me to leave my weekly column. My book Divine Intervention tells this incredible story.  The sequel to this book The Evidence for the Sixth Sense was published in March 2005. My new spiritual science book Countdown to Coherence is being published in the UK in October 2010 and in the USA spring 2011.

I regularly lecture on health and spiritual issues, and contribute to local and national radio. My TV programme, ‘The Highly Alternative Show’ was featured on Channel Health in the UK, Europe and Canada.  My best selling book the 500 Most Important Health Tips You’ll Ever Need (Cico Books) has been  completely revised, expanded and updated and  is due for publication in January 2011.   I have also written 500 of the Most Important Ways to Stay Younger Longer in March 2003 (Cico Books). I continue to write occasional features for national newspapers and magazines.  To date my books have been published in Holland, China, South Africa, France and Lithuania and will shortly be published in Australia and America.
